Scubadiving Liveaboard Egypt – North route and Brother Islands
This tour takes you to the best spots in the northern Red Sea: to the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula – the Ras Mohammed National Park, to the world-famous wreck of the Thistlegorm and also to the Brother Islands Marine Park. Diving at its best!
Ras Mohammed – This small headland is surrounded by reefs with an incredible variety of underwater life. The Shark and Yolanda Reef dive sites are probably the best known. Here you can marvel at the impressive drop-offs, which drops down to a depth of 800 meters, and should always take a look into the blue water during the dive, as huge schools of fish as well as large fish can be spotted there. Huge schools of barracuda, schools of batfish and even deep-sea sharks regularly patrol here. Two large coral columns that rise to just below the surface, together with a sandy terrace 10-15 meters below, the “saddle”, form the core of the reef. Anemone City is also nearby and can be admired on another dive.
The Thistlegorm is probably the most famous wreck in the Red Sea. The special atmosphere in this place immediately captivates everyone. The British war cargo ship was on its way to Egypt to supply the British Africa Corps stationed there when it was attacked by a German bomber on October 6, 1941 and sank. The wreck lies upright on the seabed at a depth of 30 meters. The cargo is particularly interesting: tanks, trucks, weapons, motorcycles, railroad wagons and a locomotive. Diving on the Thistlegorm is definitely one of the highlights in any diver’s logbook!
The Brother Islands – or simply “Brothers” for short – are among the best dive sites in the world. The two small islands of Big Brother and Little Brother are located approx. 60 km east of El Qusier in the middle of the Red Sea and are known for their impressive coral growth, countless schools of fish, but especially for large fish and sharks. The Brothers offer an immense density of marine life, sponges, anemones, all kinds of hard and soft corals in an incredible variety of colors and shapes adorn the walls. You can often see gray reef sharks, thresher sharks, hammerhead sharks and oceanic whitetip sharks. The 36 m high lighthouse on Big Brother is the landmark. The Brothers also have two shipwrecks to offer: “Numidia” and the “Aida”.
