Liveaboard trip in Egypt’s Red Sea – North tour with Ras Mohammed, Tiran Island and great wrecks!
Experience an unforgettable diving safari in the Red Sea on our classic northern route with a side trip to the legendary Tiran Islands! This week-long tour combines spectacular wrecks, colorful reefs and the unspoiled beauty of the Sinai – ideal for adventurers, photographers and anyone who wants to discover the best of the north!
Highlights of the trip:
Ras Mohammed National park
The small headland of Ras Mohammed is surrounded by breathtaking reefs with an incredible variety of underwater life. The Shark and Yolanda Reef dive sites are probably the best known of these. Here you can marvel at the impressive drop off, which drops down to a depth of 800 meters, and should always take a look into the blue water, as huge schools of fish as well as large fish can be spotted there. Huge schools of barracuda, schools of batfish and even deep-sea sharks regularly patrol here. Jackfish Alley is another highlight of the region that we like to visit on the tour.
Tiran Islands
Legendary dive sites such as Jackson Reef, Thomas Reef or Gordon Reef with canyons and steep walls await you in the Strait of Tiran. Drift diving at its best, and with a bit of luck you might even see big fish such as hammerhead sharks or eagle rays.
SS Thistlegorm – the most famous wreck in the world
Dive into the British war cargo ship that sank in the Gulf of Suez in 1941 – an absolute highlight for every diver! The special atmosphere at this site immediately captivates everyone. The ship was on its way to Egypt to supply the British Africa Corps stationed there when it was attacked by a German bomber on the night of October 6, 1941 and sank. The wreck lies upright on the seabed at a depth of 30 meters. The cargo is particularly interesting: tanks, trucks, weapons, motorcycles, entire railroad carriages and locomotives can be inspected underwater.
Wreck diving at the reef Abu Nuhas
There are several wrecks waiting to be discovered here: the Greek wooden freighter Giannis D. and the ceramic tile-laden Chrisoula K., which only sank in 1981, are the most popular. Great light shows, moray eels, scorpion fish, crocodile fish, and much more. With a bit of luck, you might even spot dolphins. Depending on the guests’ appetite for wrecks, the 150-year-old steamship SS Carnatic or the Kimon M. could also be dived.
The actual choice of dive sites always depends on the wind and weather!
